Dr Barbara Wright, a beloved general practitioner in NSW’s central west, was also a respected member and executive of the Central West Branch of GW-NSW. In her honour, a Postgraduate Scholarship was established to support local women to pursue and attain a postgraduate degree. This year’s recipient is Emma Stubbs from Galambine NSW.

Emma holds a First Class Honours Science (Neuroscience) degree from the University of New South Wales.  She has been accepted into the postdoctoral Doctor of Medicine Program at the University of Sydney commencing in 2022. The stream she will join within this degree requires 4 years of F/T study and has a specialism in rural medicine.  Emma intends to join a rural practice on completion. This accords with the spirit of the award as applicants must have a connection with rural/regional NSW to be eligible.

It’s hoped that the scholarship presentation will take place at a lunch in Cowra on Saturday February 12 2022. Congratulations to Emma and we look forward to staying in touch with her progress.
